RAM Speed Vs Size

So i had a user complain that when testing some of the products we build he was experiencing severe slowdown. I verified that he was just gobbling up his 512 MB of RAM.

Ive got an extra 1gb of DDR2 5300 to replace his 512 of DDR2 4200. From my understanding memory only runs as fast as its slowest stick, so would it be better to run 1 GB at 5300 or 1.5 GB at 4200?

No issues or anything just curious.

The 1.5 would in most cases deliver more performance! There would be no noticeable speed difference between 4200 or 5300 anyway.

^ I agree.

Especially with such a small amount of RAM you should go with more over faster.
