Hi there,

I am purchasing a new graphics card. I previously had a 2 way sli 9800GTX config. I have found brand new GTX480's available for £191. However the same sites sells the 560oc for £217. I was looking for opinions on which card would be the better buy.

Thanks.

lol thanks for the info, btw im running a c2q q9300 @ 2.5ghz but it will oc to 2.93. Will this be a bottleneck for that card?

I think you will be disappointed in the noise that the GTX 480 makes. I used to own that Asus GTX 480, and the noise was noticable. I never used to worry too much about it until I upgraded to the GTX 580 and then I realized the noise difference is significant. I would say that should be your determining factor, since both will perform very closely to each other.

On the other hand, that website does have a pair of Gigabyte GTX 480's with custom cooling that will be much quieter. They even have the SuperOverclock version (SOC) clocked at 820 mhz (vs. 700 mhz stock) with the super quiet Windforce cooler. That card will be about as fast as a GTX 580.

38 Dba vs. 50 Dba:
"it is generally accepted that a 10 dbA increase doubles the perceived sound level."
