Hello, everyone.

I was looking at a new desktop, and so I went to iBuyPower.

There I was looking at the options, and the dual 6990s are too far out of my price range, but because each house 2x of the 6970 GPUs, wouldnt they work together?

Hope to hear soon.

You are the first to ask this question here. In the past you can crossfire a 3870x2 with either a 3850 or a 3870 for a two card tri fire. The 4xxx gen likely was able to do this same thing however I haven't seen many do it. The 5xxx can do this but once again rarely practiced. So there is a possibility of a 6990 + 6970 tri fire however since ATI's crossfire has one disadvantage and that is clock synchronization.

It will scale better than a normal quad fire system in DX9 and DX10/11 games but don't take my word for it because no one has done a review or even posted on this so you are the first thus far. If you do try it then let us all know but I don't like the idea of learning at someone's financial expense :s
