ok basically im trying to figure out which one is better?
The second thing is if the GTX 470 is better is it worth the extra $50 to pay for it.

I know that everyone likes Nvidia but i need a honest review to figure out which one is better and if the FPS in games does increase that much.
I only run on a 1440 by 900 display so im wondering if the GTX is that much better and worth it and if the FPS increase is tremendousness.

Thanks for the help in Advance :)

It looks like just a minor difference at approximately your resolution. These are for stock/reference cards. There are several custom versions with higher clock speeds. If you could find a Gigabyte GTX 470 SOC that would be a way better choice with a high factory overclock, a very quiet cooler, and performance closer to a GTX 480.

see i understand the only problem is that im on a budget and i really don't want to upgrade to the GTX 470 because its alot more money for just a 4% percent increase.

The cards that im looking at are right here.
Radeon HD 6870

and the GTX 470

which one is the best to buy out of all of those and that i will get the best "bang for your buck" and the best performance for the price.

Keep in mind that i will most likely be buying this card some time in july and i need to save up my money first.

Do you think any of these cards would have a price drop?

For less than $250 you can get a GTX 560, which will be better than the 6870 or GTX 470. I do think the prices on the GTX 470 will come down in price, quite a bit actually, by July.

Are you planning on upgrading the monitor anytime soon? If not I really wouldn't go beyond a GTX 460 which can be OC'd to very close to GTX 560 power (not that yo will really need to at that res)
If trying to decide best bang for your buck the GTX 460 would be the winner due to not needing anymore power than that (and the fact it is a great budget card)

If it must be between the cards you stated, then 6870 simply because it is cheaper and still plenty of power for your res.

I play at 1920 x 1080 and my GTX 560 provides all the power I need for gaming
