Cannot connect to wireless network

Hello,
i dont have the option to view availliable wireless networks. i was able to do this up until today when i turned my computer on. use to have the single computer icon that i could right click but its disappeared. even tried to go through the networks connection folder but still dont have that option. dont know what to do. im running windows xp.
