My speakers are good, but I keep getting a message saying that there are no spea

I have a Dell Inspiron 560, and it runs Windows 7. I know my speakers are good, but I have no sound coming out, and I keep geting a message saying that the speakers are unplugged. What could this be, and what is causing this?

Update the driver to the latest one available in the DELL's web page.

Also..if you haven't gone to the settings in the control panel, you can select the output device and specify that it's surround...mine defaulted to 2.1 - once I changed it, it was good to go.

Go to the Sound (just start typing sound in the searchbox/start menu), select speakers, click properties. You should be able to change it here.

[EDIT] - that should have been Configure, not properties
