2500k for a gaming pc. 2600k if you will be doing work on the PC as well.

Planning on building my own computer and the use is mainly for Unigraphics (UGNX7.5), watching movies, and some games on that order.

Is the $100 saved from using 2500k instead of 2600k better spent on the graphics card?

I have always said. You can never go to big on your GPU. When it comes to your GPU, bigger is always better. That is why I always look at price per performance when buying a GPU.

^+1 spend the extra on a the GPU the 2500K is amazing and the 2600K is $100 for not much more (nothing in gaming).
