IBM X40 / X41 Fan Noise

I have a question about the fan on the IBM X40/41 (just purchased the
latter).

Whenever I shift the position of the unit (tilt it up, turn it
sideways), I hear a buzzing/humming sound associated with the fan. The
humming doesn't sound like scraping, but it is somewhat noticeable --
particularly when the fan is running at full speed. Clearly, the fan is
acting like a little gyroscope and doesn't like being knocked off axis.


I'm curious to hear from other X40/41 owners whether this humming noise
represents "normal" behavior. Do you hear any such sounds from your
fan, especially when moving the unit?
