I would upgrade your CPU before the graphics card. That old first generation Phenom would just slow down any card you put into it.

For about $200 you could get a mobo and cpu combo but you would have to hold off on the graphics until you have more cash and not to mention you'd probably need new RAM.If your looking to play those games your going to need a huge overhaul.

Do you have an actual link to HP for your computer specs? That link you provided is broken for me.

Your gonna have to upgrade both the processor and mobo. That mobo doesn't support any newer processors. And new memory.
Liek i said your gonna need a a big overhual to not bottleneck whatever card you put in there.

Most newer cards won't even work with those old mobo's.I tryed installign a 5570 on an old HP mobo but it wouldn't recignize it.

Actually Purple Stank, that's pretty anecdotal advice right there.
You have no idea whether your "old HP mobo" is anything similar to this mobo.

The mobo says it has a PCI-E x16 slot, which will fit ALL current PCI-E discrete graphics cards.

I don't know of the situation in England but in the US recommending the GTX 550 Ti is suicide, as anandtech states:
"Indeed the GTX 550 Ti is faster than the 5770 - by around 7% - but then the GTX 550 Ti costs 36% more. At the other end of the spectrum is the 6850, which is 7% more expensive on average for 25% better performance. Even the GTX 460 768MB is going to gnaw at NVIDIA here so long as it’s still on the market; it’s 15% faster and yet it’s $20 cheaper. "

So the 5770 for basically the same performance, for a lot less money, the GTX 460 768mb for more performance, same price, or 6850 for a lot more performance, slightly more price.

I'm glad to hear that I wont need to dish out a lot of extra cash =D. Sabot, would those graphics card bottle necked by my cpu though?

My mobo was made the same year as his.It should work but it didn't for me,i just wanted say a fair warning and for an already aged machiene that he might as well get a new one instead of buy a card that won't be bottlenecked and waste money on it when he'll have to trash it in a year.
