Will my i5 2500k bottleneck this?

Just wanted to ask whether my 2500k would bottleneck 2x6950's 1gb
in cfx ..

I'm planning to build a gaming rig and would like to add another 6950 1gb somewhere down the line.

I know it would bottleneck then so my main question is : "how much overclock do I need so that pc does not bottleneck then"

I think it should be around 4.5ghz approx.

More about will 2500k bottleneck this
  1. Correct me if Im wrong but I think It would depend on what game/program you are running.
  2. Correct some games perfer just a ton of graphics card power and some use both gpu and cpu power. As for the 2500k bottle necking I doubt it will especially overclocked.
  3. yeah I know that..

    my main question was the extent to which I will have to OC a 2500k to prevent any sort of bottlenecking.

    this is for games like BF3 and crysis 2 and other upcomings..

    i think it shud be abt 4.5ghz but still..if u can give sum helpful advice..

    and yes.. can u ppl teel how gud an OC'er the 8p67(plain one) is..I know its not limited to mobo but still it shud be gud :)

    @mgf:nice quote man!! ;)
  4. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/Radeon_HD_6950_CrossFire/3.html http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon-hd-6950-crossfirex-review/5Both of these reviews were tested with i7's at 3.8Ghz (one is a i7 920 the other a 965) and they have to limitations due to cpu so your 2500k especially at 4.5Ghz (assuming its stable) should be A ok.
