Radeon HD 4670 Is No Improvement to Integrated HD 4200?

Hi there!

I've been looking and reading for several days now, but I can't seam to figure out why the Radeon HD 4670 does not really improve my gaming performance over my integrated HD 4200.

I've come to the conclusion that maybe it's my default RAM?

My specs:

Phenom II x4 820 (2.8 GHz)
785G chipset
DDR3 6gb @ 533MHz
1680x1050 monitor (but I can't game at that res)

When I put the 4670 in and installed all the newest drivers, I didn't see much difference in the games I tried. Mirrors Edge let me play on a little higher settings, but GRAW2 had to be on low, and Freespace Open was as slow as it is on the integrated. I was disappointed so I didn't try any other games.

So is it my ram? Or do I need to get a better graphics card? What about the HD 5670?

That's my 4670

Thanks!

Well, Freespace Open shows the fps whenever I play, but I didn't run anything for the other games. I just picked a level that was on the more intense side so I could see how it ran.

Freespace drops down into the single digits on the opening real-time cut scene for Blueplanet II. The scene opens with the fps (on both cards) at about ~35, then drops to about ~20 when a couple of large ships jump in. Then when we see the entire battle taking place that's when they both just die. (meaning completely unplayable, but not locked up)

Mirrors Edge on the 4200 had to be on low everything (and 1440x900), but on the 4670 it let me play pretty good on medium settings.

I thought GRAW 2 was going to run on full everything because when I started it up with the 4670 it was running perfect for a few seconds than gradually slowed to unplayable. So I gradually adjusted settings down until everything was on low and then I didn't see any lag.
