The back of the motherboard will have 3.5mm jacks if it has onboard sound. You do not connect it to the face of the motherboard like you do with the CPU, RAM, video card, etc.
 

on mb there are audio port on the back of the mb built in. on most mb is the green port that the same size as a head phone port. if your case has audio plug on the front you have to plug it into the audio or front pannel header on the mb.

its a wire for the motherboard. sorry i cant get an picture yet but ill describe it. its a black rectangle connector that says 'AUDIO'. it has 4 pins on the top and 5 pins on the bottom

That's a front panel audio header, and it comes from your case, not the PSU. It's what makes the front panel audio ports work on the case.

You connect it to the posts in the top left of that picture.
