Hello
well, I'm currently considering upgrading from oc'd e8400 @3600 MHz to i5 2500 k
my specs are:

Mobo: GA-EP43-UD3L (and i cannot OC my processor further because of it's FSB limitation :(  )
Processor: E8400
Ram: 2 x 2 GB Kingston DDR2 bus 800
VGA: Sapphire Vapor-X HD5770 (930/1345)
Monitor :19' samsung Syncmaster 923nw max resolution 1440x900

of course i'll be selling my current mobo, Cpu, Ram
and getting

i5 2500 k
Gigabyte GA-Z68A-D3-B3
CORSAIR Vengeance 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 CL9 Dual Channel Memory Kit

so would it worth it or not?
i mainly use my desktop for Gaming

Yes the upgrade will be worth it - the LGA1155 / i5's are brilliant chips that have a very good work rate per clock cycle.

The only potential problem you will have is the GPU - though this will largely depend on what gamnes you play and if you overclock the nerw CPU.

have you considered keeping everything else as it is and upgrading the monitor and GPU?

for gamming you select right cpu that is INTEL I5 2500K this cpu is strongly recommended for all types of games with nvidia gtx 580 your games will be run in maximum setting and max resulotion but resolution depend on moniter and games depend on gpu.as i stated that gpu for gammin g is nvidia gtx 580 or 6950 both are fit but gtx 580 is better.
