64bit vs 32 bit?

Hello,
My pc is a gateway GT5630E with the quad core Q6600. with 3GB of ram,therfore "Vista" does not identify this computer as " "64bit ready". Is this true? can I load "64bit Windows 7"? safely? my motherboard is a "Intel Stoughton G965T"

The Q6600 is a 64-bit processor, so 64-bit Windows 7 will be fine on it.

You'll be able to run a 64bit operating system just fine. Can I ask why you would want a 64bit operation system? Just have a normal 32bit Windows 7 since you've only got 3GB of RAM.

you won't be needing a 64-bit OS unless u have more than 4gb of ram and u want to take advantage of 'em all
