9850 overclock to 2.75-3ghz

what two ati gpus wont be a bottle neck at 1920x1080

im thinking of going 2 ati 4870's will this work or will there be a major bottleneck?

Solution
I would def advise against doing that, your cpu is going to seriously hinder you in any crossfire setup bc of the extra overhead needed to smoothly run 2 cards, not only that but 4870 crossfire has terrbile minimum fps problems which you will get tired of fast...

I would seriously consider upgrading your cpu or going with a midrange single gpu

this is a computer that i am using for weird things let leave it at that i am not going to upgrade it because my gaming computer has a 2600k at 4.8ghz and 2 gtx 580s in sli.

On the other hand will 1 4870x2 be better or whats a soulution here? im useing 1 gtx 450 atm and it is not cutting it.

well if your are in the CIA, then I understand, bc then of course you'd have to kill me... lol

I wouldnt go much higher than say a gtx 560, but even that will be held back a good deal.. you can pick up a gtx 460 768mb model for cheap these days that might be worth trying out, your dual 580 rig sounds sick, I'm looking forward to SLi'ing my 570 down the road once I move to Sandy Bridge..

4870x2 I would stay away, its basically a 5870 but if your gonna go that route I'd get the 6950 bc its not much more expensive but overall I'd say something like a gtx 460 would be decent for now, what res do u play at?

A read a few other articals here on toms they say that a 9850 at 3ghz will not bottel neck 2 5850's i find that hard to belive lol. and a gts 450 1gb is faster then a gtx 460 700mb IMO

Also doing video encoding should be better with 2 gpus instead of one am i wrong here? and many as why i dont use my good computer for this lol. Its stricly for gaming only i dont even go on the internet with it.

yeah I wouldnt believe that BS from Toms about 2 5850s, with my exprirences with crossfire, basically, it sucks ass... the microstuttering caused by low minimum fps in crossfire ruins the whole experience for me so again, I'd recomend a single card and for video editing you are probly better suited with an Nvidia card ... dual gpus will be better but, maybe if video editing is your main function on that pc then you might be in the market for a workstation card which I know very little about... but overall I'd still get a gtx 460/560 (if you want to go that hi)

All i know is for the price a gtx 580 is cheaper then a good workstation card and seems to be faster

yeah you are probably right about that, what about a gtx 570? I picked one up the other day for 304 AR, the PNY model, Ive owned 5770s in crossfire and they suck, offer terrible minimum fps, personally I would not go that route better to get a single powerful card being that you cpu is kind of weak and crossfire requires more overhead power from the cpu then a single gpu config does.

5830 is bad price/performance imo better to go with a single gtx 460 1 gig or a single 5850 for that matter, the 5830 overall was pretty much a fail, its about as fast as a 4890, which all in all is not that much faster then your gts 450.... so for a worthy upgrade I'd at least get a gtx 460 1 gig, 6850 or 5850, even the 6870 is not a bad deal for a single card, in fact check this out:

both are mine, just thought it came up... I would have never referenced it otherwise but I think it would be a good choice if that is the level of performance you are looking for
