Sharp Japanese Laptop

Hello-

I'm hoping someone can help me. I have a Sharp Mebius PC-MT1-HU that the
modem & sound card do not seem to work. The Japanese version OS has been
replaced with a North American Windows XP Professional SP-2 OS.

In Device Manager, the audio controller is listed as Intel(r) AC'97
Audio Controller. It says the device cannot start (Code 10). The modem
listed is a Lucent Technologies Soft Modem AMR.

I've searched for and tried a variety of drivers for both and can't seem
to get them to work. I also updated the BIOS from files I found on the
Sharp Japan support web site. I've also tried the drivers from that site
to no avail. Everything else works fine.

Any suggestions on what I can do to fix these problems would be greatly
appreciated.
