Seeking help with my MoBo and a USB 3.0 adapter

Hi guys,

I've just been given a fairly not new MSI motherboard, an MS-7360 to be precise. I was just wondering if anyone knows if the USB 'port' on the motherboard is specifically for USB 2.0 or whether it will work with this USB 3.0 device

Yes, it will work fine, as it has PCI-E Express on the board.

I see that, and I assumed it would work, but then I saw another picture of the one I was looking at and noticed it had a cable for the USB headers on the motherboard. Is it necessary to connect to these or will PCIe alone do the job?

That is for the other features, like the LED and the reader.

But not for the USB, especially not for the USB3 : )

USB3 header is larger and mostly blue, but also comes in the black...

That is the size and connection for the USB3 header. Yours would be through the PCI.

After checking the picture again, it may be adding the USB2/1.1 compatibility too.
