i've exchanged my stock e7400 cpu cooler to zalman cooler.

and i OC little (2.8 to 3.15Ghz) and run prime 95.

it's idealing at 38 at max around 58 for 1 hour on prime 95.

so is this ok to use for long?

and another question is

is the 775 and 1156 cooler have the same base? i mean can i use 775 cooler to 1156?

and can i use that 775 stock cooler on my passively cooled graphic card? if so, how?

thanks

58 degrees isn't too hot and any real world applications are unlikely to stress your cpu as much as prime 95

Also (I don't know a lot about coolers) at least some coolers can be used on different classes of processors. For example, my cooler (a Zalman CNPS 10X) can be fitted on a 775, a 1156 or a 1366. But each socket type requires different bits to mount the cooler on the cpu. So if you have the right bits to adapt your cooler to the 775 socket then you're good to go.
Also for the last bit, it sounds to me like you want to use a cpu cooler on your graphics card? I've never heard of that but I'm not an experienced builder.

i just got only 1 mount for 775 socket base.
i get that cooler from local shop.
so that means the base of 775 and 1156 are different and i can't mount to 1156 with the 775 one? isn't it?

then, secondly anyone, plz suggest me can replace the fanless heatsink of GPU and replace with the stock 775 CPU cooler? and can it be benificial?

thanks

You cannot use a 775 only cooler on 1156, you also cannot use a CPU heatsink on a GPU (the weight distribution for one would probably cause issues..).
Why do you want to replace your GPU's heatsink anyway?

If I remember correctly though there's a kit for some of the older Zalman coolers that make them useable on socket 1156.

so i need to get the 1156 or 1155 base if i need to transfer to new mobo.
and also i should use a 80mm case fan for gpu instead of the cpu cooler, right?

thanks to all, mem.

Yes to needing a new baseplate, no to using a case fan on a GPU.

If you're really set on changing your GPU's heatsink then you'll have to find one which is actually made to fit your model of graphics card.
What is your GPU?

just small and weak one
4550 fanless

i just got that idea because i want to add a fan and i got the 775 cpu cooler spare.

thanks
