There are mobile(laptop) versions of the i7 that only have two cores, but all of the desktop i7's have 4 cores and 8 threads like greghome pointed out.

No those would only be I5's and I3's that are dual cores, I7's are Quad and above.

I3's dual core not ht
I5's dual core with ht and quads with no ht
I7's quads with ht and 6 cores depending on the series.

all seocnd gen i7 mobile processors and all dual cores... many of the first gen are also dual cores, the 'Q' in the code name of the mobile processors indicates a quad core...

Then I stand corrected on the laptop part, but on desktops, I stand correct.
