Hi everyone - I've got a build from 3 1/2 yrs ago - it's still working fine for me except I've picked up Witcher 2 and want to play it! And my video card isn't hefty enough. I'm looking to spend the minimum to upgrade - wouldn't mind getting the best processor and video card I can for the old mobo. But it's so old that it appears that most of the compatible pcu's and video cards are obsolete! Can anyone help me determine what I could get that would work on this board and where I can get it?

Currently I have:
ASUS P5N-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor

XFX PVT84JUDD3 GeForce 8600GT XXX 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card

Thanks much!

Thanks! I think maybe I was getting confused with the different slot types - I built my computer back in 2007 and then haven't thought about compatibility of parts since!

So according to the P5N-E specs, the highest quad core CPU it will accept is the Core 2 Quad Q6700 (2.66GHz). I agree it's probably not worth upgrading at this point, but will any CPU with a 775 socket work on my motherboard??

Sorry if that's a bit of a dumb question - very green at this stuff and I rely on you guys heavily!! :)

Yeah most likely all CPUs that were made for the 775 socket will be available for your motherboard. I may be wrong, so I suggest checking your motherboard compatibilities on the ASUS site.
