CPU upgrade make sense?

Hi All -

I'm trying to find out if it makes sense for me to upgrade my CPU.

Now I have an AMD Phenom II X4 940 2.8ghz, 4gb RAM, Radeon HD 5870

I'm considering the AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition 3.3ghz,
primarily to boost my gaming performance.

This is the top processor my MoBo can handle.

Think I'll see enough of a performance gain in games ?

You will want to wait for the Bulldozer launch (if it ever comes, dammit!). It might offer better performance at the same price point or it might see some price cuts on older CPUs

My MoBo tops out at AMD AM3 Socket (Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P)
I don't know if it can handle the new chip - although a price cut might be worth the wait.
