i looked on newegg and found the most sold 1 is

"Patriot Signature 8GB (2 x 4GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Laptop Memory Model PSD28G800SK" 64% of users buy it.. but adding it can be trouble... (not easy to load in from what i see in the comments..)

To address the question in the thread title, no, you do not need ECC memory. No consumer computer needs ECC memory. It will not make your computer more stable (might prevent one crash per year). It is not any faster. It carries absolutely no benefits for a consumer.

ECC is for servers.

You coulda gotten a better gpu for the price of that laptop. just saying.

""Patriot Signature 8GB (2 x 4GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Laptop Memory Model PSD28G800SK" 64% of users buy it.. but adding it can be trouble... (not easy to load in from what i see in the comments..)"

Your laptop uses DDR3 memory not DDR2.

I don't think it matters if you get ECC memory in this case, i think you can go with G.Skill 4GB 1066MHZ DDR3 Its great lots of great reviews
