What games would you buy to "stock up on", knowing the end..

I know, I know, you'll say, "the end isn't nigh". It looks that way to me.
The DS message boards are picking up huge steam. Development for the GBA
has nearly ceased. So the pragmatic GBA fan has to look around and wonder
what games to grab up before it's too late. That's where I'm at. Here's
what I own currently.

Advance Wars
Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising
Chu Chu Rocket
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Fire Emblem
Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
Mario Golf: Advance Tour
Metroid Zero Mission
Pokemon LeafGreen
Pokemon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire
Pokemon Ruby
Puyo Pop
Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon
Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis
Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3

I've owned before many other games.

Metroid Fusion, all the Mario Advances, Golden Sun 1, Warioware, Mario
Kart, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, etc.

As you can see, I mostly like RPGs and strategy games. So looking towards
the future and realizing that someday soon it may not be possible (when
the DS arrives) to walk into the local store and buy the same selection of
games we have available now, what games (just in your opinion) should I
consider picking up, maybe picking up again and "stocking up" on for the
future?

Games I've thought about (i.e. games I think I could play again or might
want to play again someday if I hadn't have sold them to buy other games).

Golden Sun 1 & 2
Super Mario World
Super Mario Bros. 3
Zelda: Link to the Past

Think I should snag those up again while I can? Which ones? Part of me
thinks that in some ways games like the Mario games or Zelda are *must
haves* because I know someday I'll want to revist them. But then another
part of me puts the chances of that very low. On the other hand, playing
Golden Sun again is intriguing to me. I just don't know.

All advice, opinions appreciated.

Good question. The only two games on my GBA list right now (unless I get
other ideas from this post) are Metroid: Zero Mission and Final Fantasy
(thre release of the first two games). Maybe you'd want that one, since
you like RPG/strategy. I also thought Circle of the Moon was good, if
not very short. Hard to find already, so you might want to pick that up
if you see it.

Here's a list of the games I have, all would be worthwhile to buy,
some are fairly cheap closeouts (like Shining Soul, which isn't great,
but not bad). Of the current release list, I'm waiting for FF1&2 and
Metal Slug. I was thinking of getting Guardian Heroes, but I passed.
Also, I don't think the DS is going to supplant the GBA. It may, but
it's not what Nintendo is hoping for.
Breath of Fire
Breath of Fire 2
Final Fantasy Tactics
Fire Emblem
Golden Sun
Golden Sun 2
Lufia Ruins of Lore
Lunar Legend
Phantasy Star Collection
Shining Force
Shining Soul
Shining Soul 2
Sword of Mana
Tactics Ogre (best game on the GBA in my opinion)

How are Lufia, Lunar, PSO, and Shining Force?

And what about Breath of Fire? I love RPGs. But the only "standard" RPG
I've played is Golden Sun. Everything else has been different. Either
tactical (Fire Emblem, FFTA, Tactics Ogre, Onimusha Tactics, Advance Wars
if it counts) or Mario and Luigi, Pokemon. I'm not sure how cut I am for
standard RPGs.

The Breath of Fire's are the same as the SNES versions, and are
worth getting if you like regular RPGs. But since the topic was which
games to get before we can't find them anymore, these 2 are definitely
worth getting. I'm pretty happy with all of the ones on my list. I'm
hoping that Mario RPG from the snes makes it's way to the GBA also.

I played BoF just so I could play BoF2, which was supposedly the better
game. I enjoyed BoF after a while, but once I started playing BoF2, I
just got bored with it. They are fairly linear and not too exciting, but
generally are considered good games.

This is generally my impression of standard RPGs. I do great with games
like Pokemon and Strategy games. But it's the traditional ones I get bored
with.

Yeah, once I moved into PC RPGs, which I hadn't played before, that sort
of cast a shadow over the console RPGs that play like BoF, etc.

Exactly. Hard to get too excited about sprite humans fighting sprite bats
when you've played some of the more advanced PC or even Console 3D RPGs.
When it comes to traditional RPGs, I mean. I'm still debating about
whether to hunt down Golden Sun 1 & 2 again, but I think that's my
threshold for traditional RPG gaming.

I love Pokemon. Maybe I should buy the other two (Fire Red and Sapphire).
Right now I own Ruby and Leaf Green.

Golden Sun 1/2 are really good. Still linear, but nice graphics. The
first one is fairly short, but the part 2 is a *lot* longer. Almost too
long.

I have FR and Sapphire, and I was thinking about getting Ruby to keep
working on my pokedex, but I think I'll wait for Emerald to come out,
which hopefully it will early next year.
