My new build is slow.

I just built my 1st PC and I'm having problems multi tasking. When I'm extracting large files the pc starts lagging. It also happens when i have multiple programs open. I didn't expect this type of problem from a $800 PC. Can anyone tell me what could be wrong? Here's is the build.

Phenom ii x6 1055t stock
ASUS M5A88-V EVO
Kingston HyperX Blu 4GB ram
Corsair 650 watt ps
Gigabyte Radeon HD 6850
Coolmaster hyper 212 plus

It sounds like it might be a hard drive thing more than anything... The processor can only work as fast as the hard drive when you're moving files around and whatnot. You should try a solid state....
