Building a PC for my father [$500 budget]

I am looking to build a computer for my father, he rarely plays video games and the ones he plays don't really have graphical needs. (He already has a screen, keyboard, mouse and speakers)

I am looking for an i3 or i5 quad core with a compatible motherboard, around 4gb of ram, maybe a better case, a reliable psu and 500gb~1tb hdd.

Is there anyone that have a better suggestion? maybe buying individual pieces? what thermal grease should I get for the cpu? is there a good low price video card I should add?

PS: I am from canada and shipping must be part of the $500 budget.

here you are a nice solid build using well rate components with in your budget. i3 is plenty for what your dad will want to do with it.

Case and PSU $89 I use this for builds of this type, its simple and reliable. it will also hold a pretty decent GPU for the future. for now the onboard video shoudl be fine.
