Need to build a pc

Hi, I'm really bad at computers when it comes to hardware, and I'm looking to build a pc for about $800 soon. I'm looking for something I can game on as well as complete schoolwork. Games I'll be playing will be things like GTA 4 and so on, no FPS games, but I'd like to run them smoothly with high quality. I need suggestions for what to buy. Thanks beforehand.

It depends on your preferences. With an ati/amd setup you will save many without sacrificing performance. With intel/nvidia you will spend more with only slight increases in performance. for $800 I built myself an excellent pc. You can copy my specs because I definitely recommend them.
