New PSU fan not spinning?

Hi,

I just bought a new computer that came with a 250W power supply. I had bought an Antec VP-450 450W power supply a couple of weeks ago in preparation for the upgrade. Shortly after opening and starting up my new computer last night, I installed the Antec VP-450 450W power supply.

The computer started up fine and everything, but I got nervous because the fan on the power supply (it has one fan only that is pointed downward) is not spinning whatsoever. I wondered if maybe it would start spinning if it got under a heavy load, but I didn't feel like risking it for more than about 10 minutes of just leaving the computer on.

Does anyone know tried contacting Antec and am waiting to hear back from them, but I figured I'd poll the Tom's Hardware community first. FYI, here is a link to the power supply I bought:

...and a link to the computer...

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,
-Chris

I started the PC with the side of my case open and had my head looking underneath the fan. There is no change in the fan movement from before pressing the power button to after pressing it. Additionally, when putting my hand behind the unit on the back of the tower, I feel no air coming out.

Some newer PSUs have temp. sensing that does not turn the fan on at all until a certain heat level is reached within the PSU. Seasonic X series and others employ this. You may want to read your Antec User's Manual to see if your PSU has this feature which is designed for silent operation.
