So I'm building my first computer and I'm wondering if the PSU I have chosen is enough.
I thought it would be but, I was messing around on iBUYPOWER and noticed they said that the EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130623 requires 650w or higher power supply. I wanted to use a Seasonic S12II 520 Bronze 520w http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151094&Tpk=Seasonic%20S12II%20520%20Bronze%20520w&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-RSSDailyDeals-_-na-_-na&AID=10521304&PID=4176827&SID=1aso476ynu0rp do I really need a 650w? I'm not going to overclock and I'm not going to SLI/Crossfire

Here is the build I'm going to use.

The 560 TI uses about 200W or ~ 17 amps on the 12v rail under max load. If you figure a nominal 10 amps. for the CPU and 5 amps. for HDs, fans, etc. you're looking at ~32 amps. max on the 12v rail. The Seasonic S12II 520 says it can supply 40 amps on the 12v rail so that should be plenty for your use with a good safety margin.

The reason why a minimum 500W PSU is recommended is because they want 30 amps. available on the 12v rail - which not all PSUs - especially older models, can provide. The Seasonic will be just fine.

I would recommend a 600W PSU. You don't want your PSU working too hard at all times especially under load. It's better to have one that's much more capable so it lasts longer. It's an investment to help your PC run smoothly long term.
