Frankensteining Two Dells?

I'm trying to get a computer going for my kids as we just replaced our computers (please don't judge the age! Dell's are durable.)

I have a Dell Dimension 8200 (Late 2001) and Dell Optiplex GX260 (Early 2003). Both work fine but for the PSU on the Optiplex. However, the Optiplex performs better in re: memory, processing, et cetera.

Would I be able to use the PSU from the Dimension with the mobo from the Optiplex?

I don't know what information you would need to know, but I know where to find all of it re: model, voltage, et cetera.

So, any chance? What information do you need to let me know?

Thanks for any help.

  1. If both ps units are the same size looking at them, one should fit the other, anyway on one side of each psu you will find a sticker telling you what the max out put of each unit in watts, and the voltage for each rail, 3.3 5v,12v and the amp output of each. if they match then a swap should be ok.
