Current Build:

Newegg Wishlist Link:

CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz
(Future proof? If I do build this, I won't be building another...probably ever.)

CPU Cooler: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus RR-B10-212P-G1 "Heatpipe Direct Contact" Long Life Sleeve 120mm CPU Cooler Compatible Intel Core i5 & Intel Core i7
(All I know is that this is the most popular standard CPU cooler)

Motherboard: ASRock P67 EXTREME4 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Graphics Card: 1x EVGA 012-P3-1570-AR GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi) 1280MB
(Again, will upgrade to 2 later for SLI and Surround)

RAM: 1x G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
(May buy another set to upgrade in the future, as motherboard has 4 slots)

HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black WD5002AALX 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
(Is this okay? I don't really need 1TB, as the computer I have had for over 5 years is sitting at 150GB/224GB, but I noticed the Cache size is 32MB, not 64MB, is that a big difference?)

SSD (Already Bought): Crucial RealSSD C300 CTFDDAC064MAG-1G1 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC
(I will only be using this SSD for Windows 7, absolutely nothing more)

PSU: CORSAIR Enthusiast Series CMPSU-850TX 850W ATX12V v2.2 / EPS12V v2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply
(Will this be able to support SLI gtx 570's, and overclocking?)

Drive: LITE-ON 24X DVD Writer 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM Black SATA Model iHAS424-98 LightScribe Support

Windows Ver: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit - OEM

Extra: Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound - OEM
(Because the stock compound that comes with the CPU is not of the best quality, confirm?)

Case: COOLER MASTER HAF 932 Advanced RC-932-KKN5-GP Black Steel ATX Full Tower Compucase Case with USB 3.0 and Black Interior
(I'm really unsure of this case. I was trying to find some that I like, and I narrowed it down to about three after browsing for what seemed like three hours. Then they all seem to have random problems...sometimes broken fans, bad cables, among other problems. Please suggest whatever case you like, but keep it under $170 or so.)

Current price on Newegg: $1551.36, with around $40 shipping.
I have not google'd all of these parts to see if they are cheaper somewhere else, and I have not looked into combo deals. I'm sure through these two methods I can take off about $100.

Please, suggestions welcome.

More about first build 1500
  1. Okay, I was able to save $14.85 through free shipping by ordering both the DVD drive and gtx 570 through Amazon (I have Amazon Prime).

Other than that, when I put in all the other items on Google, Newegg had the best price after shipping.
  2. Scythe SCMG-2100 Sleeve CPU Cooler $40 cpu cooler 6 or so degrees cooler than the 212+
1tb samsung spinpoint f3 its on sale for $50, one of the best harddrives out there
Crucial real ssd c300 64gb shellshocker today for $90 and it has really good reviews!
  3. What about the possibility of getting an AMD HD 6950, I was originally going to go with the 570 but was convinced otherwise because of some things people have noticed such as AMD products generally perform better at higher resolutions, as well as the bonus of eyefinity.
  4. the thermal compound cpu's come with are fine no need to change. the hyper 212 plus is 10$ cheaper at amazon and no shipping.
go with the spinpoint f3 1tb hdd
crucial m4 64gb is a great ssd too
    case- nzxt phantom
gpu- 6970 or 6950 because you will cf. (6950 cf is on par with 570 sli)
  5. Thanks for the replies guys.

I bought the Shellshocker deal for the SSD, I have added that to the original post.

I'll have to look into the HDD's

I don't really like the Phantom cases, though its just preference really.

And I thought that SLI GTX 570's were the best price/performance, and the same for the $300 range in terms of a single GTX 570?
  6. 2 cards 6970. 1 card 570.
