Upgrade for an older system.

Hey guys, so here's the deal.

I've got this board

Right now I've got that, an Athlon x2 5400+, 4 gb ddr2, and a gts 450.

Also running Vista 64 bit, Ultra 650 watt power supply with 38 amps on the 12v+ rail. 1 tb drive and dvd burner.

I installed the latest bios, version FHL. Looking to maybe grab this chip for an upgrade.

Couple of questions, I've read that there may be a slight perfomance loss with the am2 boards and am3 chips. But that it's not noticeable.

Also, that if I upgrade my video card later that there may be a bigger performance hit, true or not? Anyone used an old am2 board with an am3 chip? Good or bad experience?

Or I am possibly looking at this processor. Trying to stay at a decent price, but getting what I can.
