Hello

Well, today i saw the unofficial BF3 requirements:

While no official announcement of minimum requirements for Battlefield 3 have been made, we do know what engine the game will be running. Frostbite 2.0. Because of this we can estimate what requirements will be expected when Battlefield 3 hits shelves.

Minimum System Requirements
Processor: Dual Core
Memory: 2 GB
Hard Drive: 15 GB for Digital Version, 10 GB for Disc Version
Video Memory: 256 MB
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible
DirectX: 10
Keyboard and Mouse
DVD Rom Drive

Recommended System Requirements
Processor: Quadcore Processor
Memory: 4 GB
Hard Drive: 15 GB for Digital Version, 10 GB for Disc Version
Video Memory: 512 MB
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible
DirectX: 11
Keyboard and Mouse
DVD Rom Drive

Thats not even close to what i expected. :D

What do u think?

I'm kind of dissapointed I will need a DVD drive, my computer only has a floppy, and what is this keyboard and mouse thing, why isnt it touch screen capable, I want to use my non existant iPad!

On a serious note it sounds like they are leaving Windows XP behind by requiring Dx10, which may be bad for their market but it needs to be done in general. What were you expecting for specs?

If I had to guess I'd say in order to run the game smoothly at 1080p and high settings low AA you will likely need a strong quad core and at least a gtx 560ti or similar, I'm thinking that would be a fair estimate, so I think it might be time to upgrade OP

i'm pretty sure it'll need at least 512MB of video memory, 2-4GB RAM minimum and a quad-core CPU , maybe like 15GB free space, hopefully it won't be DirectX11 only

OP= original poster and like I said above I would guess that you need a gtx 460/560 or higher and a good quad core to run the game at decent settings, but this is all speculation

I actually think it will be

Minimum System Requirements
Processor: Core 2 Duo 2.5 GHZ or better
Memory: 2 GB (XP) 3 GB (VISTA)
Hard Drive: 15 GB for Digital Version, 10 GB for Disc Version
Video Memory: 256 MB
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible
DirectX: 9
DVD Rom Drive

thats probally what they will say, however it probally wont run better then 800x600 on that LOL
they wont forsake DX9 because thats what the consoles run on, so at min it will support DX9, same with the GPU memory, min will be 256 because of consoles, the question is are they going to include a hi rez texture pack in the game so it doesnt look like crysis 2 LOL

I would say something along the lines of a gtx 460, that res is not too demanding, you can probably get away with less of a gpu, maybe even something like a secondhand gtx 260 or a 5770 should be adequate at that res but for the money id get a gtx 460 in case you decide to upgrade your monitor down the road.

yeah a 5970 is way overkill for the OP's resolution, so is a 560 but not if he bumps up to 1080p, lcds are cheap now you can get a decent lcd for around $150, like fatsoferret said, get a gtx 560ti which is a great bang for your buck and then upgrade your monitor if you have money enough to buy a 5970, the monitor upgrade will single handedly change your expirience a lot more than you will think rather than getting an overkill gpu for a dated resolution... again, my .02c

Maybe a GTX570 would do the job? (maxing everything out on 1280*1024 with 50+ fps
