Help to choose CPU and motherboard

Hello. I am thinking of upgrading my CPU with motherboard. I currently have P4 3.20ghz with Optiplex GX280.
I am looking for good gaming CPU with new motherboard for about $200-250.

I was thinking of:

Have lots of other ideas, but not sure what to get. My graphic card is 9800GT.

If you use one video card, spend more money on CPU than motherboard.

But I thought Intel is better then AMD. Will this CPU be enought for CODMW3 and BF3?
