Hey all.

Looking for advice and admittedly have only skimmed the forums so far, I was really impressed with how helpful everyone was in particular when solving the gaming PC build dilemma. Anyway, I want to go ahead and apologize now since this has probably been asked somewhere and I didn't try hard enough to find the answer. 4 kids and a limited amount of time sometimes makes me choose between research and a couple hours of gaming after the kids are in bed. Anyway, most of the time I admittedly choose gaming. but can you blame me? Anyway, on to the details...

I have always built my own gaming systems. Most of the time I spend hours researching different things and trying to figure out the best component in each area. What I don't spend time researching is how those systems interact with one another. So I end up with a really kick-ass system that works great but has bottlenecks and doesn't use each component to it's fullest. So I end up spending more than I should all the time.

Anyway, where I'm at now is trying to reduce the size and noise of my rig without sacrificing too much power. I'll give a breakdown of my components and I'm open to changing what's needed to make this a much cleaner, more efficient design. A bonus would be able to make sure all the components are able to run Hackintosh, as I live in Macland when I'm not gaming.

Thanks in advance!

New System Guidelines

Approximate Purchase Date: Taking recommendations. I have a working system there's no rush.

Budget Range: <$1000 (Is this reasonable with my existing components?)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Games - Star Wars: The Old Republic, StarCraft II, Rift, Guild Wars II, Warhammer Online, World of Warcraft (If I ever play again), Streaming via PlayOn

Parts Not Required: Mouse, Keyboard, Headset/Microphone (Open to Keyboards and Headsets if extra in the budget. I would like to go to a split keyboard for gaming but can't find one as of yet, and the headset I have flakes out on me, I'm not sure if it's drivers or what, but I really like wireless.)

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Whichever has the best rates. I have Amazon Prime.

Country of Origin: USA

Parts Preferences: None. I've switched around a lot with each build.

Overclocking: I get into it, see what my system can do, and then I turn it back off only to end up overclocking it again when I'm ready to upgrade justifying it by saying I'm buying myself a little more time. (And give me an excuse when things start breaking...)

SLI or Crossfire: If it fits in the box. Remember smaller & quieter are better!

Monitor Resolution: Current Resolution:1680 x 1050, 1680x1050 (I'm happy with these monitors but if the budget allows!)

Additional Comments: Small, Quiet, No Rush.

Anything I missed?

The main part of my request is how to get the beast of a rig smaller and quieter...

"Anyway, where I'm at now is trying to reduce the size and noise of my rig without sacrificing too much power."
