Hello,
I'm looking to either by a new imac 27 inch i7 or build a pc. I would be using it for professional audio recording. I already have a firewire sound card, monitor, mouse and keyboard. Here is the i7 sandy bridge based pc i am looking at. I would want it to run quiet and be able to handle a lot of samples, tracks and plug ins. This would be my first build since i moved over to mac 5 years ago.

Processor: Intel i7 2600k 3.4
Motherboard: Intel DP67BGB3
RAM: 16 gigs of G Skill Ripjaws
Graphics Card: ASUS EN210 Silent GeForce 210
Hard Drive: INtel x25 ssd 80 GB
Case: Antec Sonata Pro
Power Supply: Antec Earthwatts EA 500D Green

Not so sure about everything here would love everybody's feedback if this is overkill or not enough please let me know. I'm trying to keep my budget around 1100 or less. Thanks for your suggestions.

^ Some suggestions -
1. IMO you wont need a discrete graphics card as the onboard Intel 3000 would suffice for your needs, it is pretty powerful enough for a non-gamer...

2. Here are some alternatives to the above parts,...
i7 + Gigabyte GA-Z68A-D3H-B3 - This one has the overclocking features of the P67 & HDMI/ DVI as in H6x boards

RAM - Get this kit - Though I am not sure if your apps would take full advantage of the 16GB,...

Thanks for your advice. I added the samsung spinpoint and went with the newer intel ssd harddrive. I found a combo deal for
a GIGABYTE GA-Z68X-UD3-B3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard and CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.672050. I needed that one firewire port. Do you think i should also get a heatsink if i plan on oc'ing? If so what one. Thanks again for the help.
