Hello Tomshardware. I have recently bought and received parts for a custom build. Over the past day, I have assembled the computer but I have a problem. The computer will not turn on when I press the power button. I have plugged in all the necessary cables from the power supply to the motherboard and other parts. After asking my friends about this problem, it came up that maybe the parts were compatible. I am new to building computers and would greatly appreciate your help.

Parts seem fine to me, cheack your motherboards manual to make sure the power switch cable from the case (Labeled somet like PWR) is plugged into the right connection on the motherboard, also check that you plugged in the 4 pin power connector into the top left socket of the motherboard. They are most often the things that cause it not to turn on in my experience.

What exactly do you mean by the computer won't turn on, like nothing appears on screen, or just nothing turns on, does the psu power on?

Maybe you could try the psu in another computer system if you have on or even another psu in the system you are building
