Boot stalling at AHCI discovery

I woke up this morning, went to turn on my computer, and suddenly it's hanging at the AHCI discovery screen. All my hard drives show up, the number at the top right is "18," and then it takes forever to go through the end of the discovery (the empty ports), which then makes the "Starting Windows" screen take about 2 minutes to either load up Windows or just completely stall out the whole machine.

I've reseated all the hard drives, and then unplugged all except the solid state with Windows on it, and the problem still occurs.

Any idea what's going on here? I've searched around to see what the "18" means but I can't find anything, if I could figure out what that designates as the problem I could probably go on troubleshooting but as of right now I can't figure out much.
