Is there any difference between the i5 2500k and the i5 2500?
Which one should I get?
What about the i5 2400? I dont plan to overclock.
And will the 1155 socket be compatible with future Sandy Bridge processors?
Or should I get the 965 BE with a AM3+ motherboard and upgrade when the new Bulldozers processors come out?

These days, any betting man is putting his money on Intel to be the performance leader for the foreseeable future. If you are not going to overclock and you don't need the absolute highest clock speed offered, then get i5 2400.

Yes socket 1155 will be compatible with the next gen of processors from Intel.

Not if the next gen use socket 2011.

I would go for an 8x/8x board over a 16x/4x if you intend to run a dual card solution, 8x/8x does slightly better than 16x/4x. You will also often find 8x/8x on the nicer boards with some cooler features.

It's already confirmed that at least some of the next gen cpu's from Intel will use socket 1155. In fact, Gigabyte has already released a bios update for their Z68-based boards specifically to support these processors. So anyone who tells you that the next gen will be all socket 2011 doesn't know what they're talking about.

I'll sit back and wait, things have been changed before.
