Overclocked Issues

guys i m helping my nephew who is going 2 built a rig....would be specs are :-
core i5 2500
asus p8h67
corsair 4gb ddr3
500gb w.d
coolermaster elite 430
xfx core edition pro 750W
....................
....................
Now as for the card he is confused about reference cards and the cards which are factory overclocked
suppose gtx 560 ti or gtx 560 ti SOC
my question is since the cpu and motherboard cant be overclocked...
then if he gets gtx 560 ti SOC can he use the features of the SOC version in his config??????

Hey there. You are talking about 2 different things. GPU (the GTX 560 Ti) and CPU (the i5-2500) overclocking.

You cannot overclock the CPU, no matter what.

The GPU can be overclocked.

SOC edition cards come already overclocked from the factory. You can have the same card by buying the cheaper version and overclocking yourself.

However, I think we can change the build to allow for overclocking.
Look into the 2500k and a P67 or Z68 motherboard. Also, please fill out this form: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261222-31-build-advic... Gives us more info.

what i asked was if my mobo and cpu cant be overclocked can i still oc my card?
