I am interested in upgrading my cpu in my laptop and I'm looking for some advice on what CPU I can upgrade to (looking for quad core) and if it's practical for me to do so. My laptop is a Gateway NV59 ]http://support.gateway.com/s/notebook/2009/gateway/nv/nv59/NV59sp2.shtml]. I checked out the website and it shows the compatible processors but I'm still wondering whether other quad core ones could work. Thanks in advance.

Unless your model shipped with a quad core as a variant, then in all likelihood the answer is NO it won't work. For it to work, your BIOS must recognize the CPU properly. There will also be the possibility of additional heat and power issues. Looks like your rig was only designed for dual core processors. I don't recommend trying this. Sorry.
