What specific model of HP do you have?

Also, removing all USB devices and then restarting will result in re-detection of all affected devices and reloading of drivers, but if no drivers for the webcam are present you will be right where you are now.

Have you checked the HP support site for drivers for your webcam?

If you look on the label on the bottom of the system, there will be a longer model number. That is what is needed to determine the types of drivers you need.

Go into your Control Panel/System and right click on your USB controller. Uninstall them and restart your system. That will force all of the devices to be re-detected.

You may need to re-install Win 7. Sounds like you may have a possibly corrupted installation. Do you have your files/documents backed up to another source/location?
