Rom setup

I can not access rom setup on my HP Compaq nx6110 notebook. I replaced a bad hard disk and I want to format it but, when I try to enter bios, I am prompted for an administrator password. I have already tried to remove the cmos battery and that did not work.

Is this a work notebook? If so, ask your IT person. If not, then your only hope is to remember the PW or find out which pins on the MB you must short to clear the PW. The pins vary from model to model.

This is an old laptop I was going to work on as a project. The more I think about it,the more I beleive there lies another problem. I found that the hard disk drive was not working (another tech verified this) so I replaced it and this problem occurred. I beleive that the old drive was physically damaged (it would not even spin) so I figured it would be an easy fix. I may just cut my losses there. Thanks anyway!
