Recommendations for new i7-990X build

Last response: in Systems

I have a new Gulftown i7-990 CPU and would like to know what video card, DDR3 memory boards (12 to 24 G of RAM), solid state drive (300 G or smaller), mother board, and power supply that I should get. I only game some and would like to set this up for under $800.00 to $1000.00. I already have a case DVD/CD player/burner and blu ray player.

I have a Gulftown i7-99X cpu chip. What would be a good motherboard, how much and what kind of DDR3, one or two video cards and what kind, how big of a power supply. I have a case, DVD/CD, and Blu Ray player and 1 TB internal memory. Should I get a solid state hard drive and how big.

If you've got a 990x, don't cheap out on anything else. Here are my suggestions (for a gaming PC - you don't need the video card horsepower necessarily otherwise):

Rampage III Formula : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

12gb Corsair Dominator GT 2000 : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

2x EVGA GTX 580 : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Corsair AX1200 : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

2x OCZ Agility 3 in RAID 0, or 1 bigger Vertex 3 : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

find what MOBOs support that CPU and build everything else round the MOBO.....

your question doesnt make sense in that no one could answer about your DIMMs, GPU, PSU or HDD etc until you decided what mobo to get..

I get my ideas from PC magazines or look online for compatability with that CPU

Good luck

Jason has given you a good answer that may well apply, but it's hard to know without knowing what you want to do with the computer.
