192.168.1.1 disconnects internet connection

Hello,
Using Internet Explorer 8, I am unable to access 192.168.1.when I enter that address the connection is immediately lost. The Wireless Network Connectioon Icon then displays a Red X. I have shut down my firewall but still no success.
I have also reset IE 8 to its default settings.
Using Firefox I can access the site without any problems.
I am at a loss to what can be causing the problem with IE 8.
Can anyone help, please?

just use Firefox, lol.

IE isn't even a real browser anyway...
I mean look what it stands for...

IE = example.

IE gets infected way to commonly.

Either a toolbar or infection has damaged it probably.
