I just built a new machine with an i5 2500k, not overclocked, and a z68 motherboard. I'm running Ubuntu 11.04. I know there is nothing that uses QuickSync under Linux right now, but I'm just trying to ascertain whether or not I'm getting the performance I should be from Handbrake.
I can encode a DVD Quality movie (VOBs) to the iPhone preset at an average of 105 fps. Based on this:

and this:

I should be getting at least twice that. The above encode takes me around 20 minutes, certainly not 8. Is there anything I need to tweak in order to see increased performance? What could be causing such low (relatively speaking) fps?
Thanks,
Justin
