Hello, I just built a new computer, hooked everything up, and when I powered it on, the thing turns on for about a second and turns off, and keeps restarting infinitely until I cut power. Any suggestions as to what it could be?
I had the same issue and changed the PSU, no more problem.
Though this is not necessarily the case for you, it could be worth
trying another unit before going down the mobo route.
Firstly ... Did you install the motherboard standoffs?. If you didn't then its quite possible that the wires underneath the motherboard are shorting out on the case and causing that problem.
I strongly suggest that before you start swapping out components that you breadboard the system. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/262730-31-breadboarding You don't necessarily need to breadboard the computer outside the case. I bread boarded my system in the case ... It was just a little tight to work in.
As a quick test to check your power supply try this: Please note that there is a possibility that the power supply will pass the test and still have the issue though! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FWXgQSokF4

Hey I'm having the exact problem. Changing PSU didn't help. Did you find a solution?
I have the same problem. I tried using my friend's PSU that works fine but that didn't help. I am 85% certain it is the mobo, I will try to replace and let you guys know how it goes.
