i was wondering if i would get better graphics and visuals if i go with a 6790 since its much never then the nvidia 460? i bought a new monitor that is an IPS monitor even though im on a real tight budget. im not nessicarily looking for speed i just want the best graphics for i play some games and this and that nothin to hardcore so i was wonderin

They will give nearly exactly the same visual quality (hopefully pixel for pixel). That is not the difference between graphics cards; only the speed at which they render. The 460, either the 1gb version or the 768mb version, will be faster than the newer 6790. The 460 is older, yes, but produces the same image quality at faster speeds.

1. graphic card companies put out newer modles every year i wonder what the big difference is every year. i found a very nice deal for a 105 dollars for the 460 nvidia wich makes it very appealing but i bought the new monitor for graphics and am willing to go all the way withen budget of course, and i just wonder what the newer card has the older one dont.

2. also im wondering because some places say the 460 fermi nvidia are 192bit and some are claiming 256bit wich is it? does it vary between first edition and second edition?

3. also would 1gb be noticably faster then a 768mb card.

thanks

You want the 256bit/1gb card. The difference is significant.

1GB*256bit* is better in performance than 768MB *192bit*, but OCs worse, the 6790 is running a bit better than a 768MB GTX 460, but i think 1GB will be a bit better, but if you will be using CF/SLi in the future i'd go with 6790 *it probably scales better than 460*

EDIT: if the "deal" you found for 105$ is the 460 SE then don't get it, it has reduced clock speeds and OCs worse, it'll be even worse than 768MB one

lol i thought that scaling for mid-range cards from both camp are pretty much the same anyway.
