Its an awesome, true quad CPU. However, current games utilize a dual core architechture.

Overall, it is an awesome CPU, BE version. Will it give you better performance, game wise, over a dual core? - No, it will not.

Is it worth an investment? - Certainly, but I would wait for a couple of weeks for BD.
