oooppps sorry hear are the specs

AMD 6000+ dualcore 3.0Ghz
Gigabit GMA16-D2S
OCZ Dominator DDR2 800 4Gb
Corsair 750W

I was playing Coniction Max settings 1440x900 AA & AF and is about the same results as the HD3870 most levels sub 25fps,
AC Brotherhood with the 3870 Maxed iwas getting 30~fps with the 5870 i'm getting 35~

Almost any game i play the results are very close to the hd3870 +5FPS~

Your CPU is a bottleneck. You should get a new CPU and motherboard. After school I can help more.

A 'cheap' 5870 is still a 5870. The difference between versions comes down to the fact if you can modify voltage, if it is factory overclocked, if it has a special cooler versus the stock, etc. 5870 are dropping in price as the supplies dwindle and people are shifting towards 6950 and 6970s.

The rest of the system is definitely holding it back, and the upgrade should make a noticeble difference.

Yes, get that. Except one thing. If you are gaming, hex cores are overkill. A Phenom II X4 955 BE C3 is the exact thing as a AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE C3. If you plan on doing any overclocking, get a 955. The only difference between the two chips is that one is "pre-overclocked'.
