I am wondering why Kodak CX7430 can only take 10 pictures with a new
battery. This has made a big trouble when I am going abroad for
visiting. Is this a design problem for Kodak digital camera?

Either the new battery is defective, or the camera has a fault condition. I
have seen both situations.

If you are using two AA alkaline batteries you will only get 10 pictures.
You need to get a set of Ni-MH batteries and charger. And you need to make
minimal use of the LCD.

Greetings Zhang,

The camera is more than capable of a couple of hundred pictures. If you are
using general Alkaline batteries, they are not going to last as long as say
a Lithium CRV3 battery, or better a rechargable battery. Kodak offers both
Lithium as well as chargers and rechargable batteries of the type you use.
Try visiting the following URL and click on the camera you own. It will take
you to the next page that lists all the accessory items including batteries.

http://www.kodak.com/go/accessories
or

I am also assuming this is a power issue. The camera has 16 megabytes of
memory built into it, so if you are not using a memory card you will only
get a certain number of pictures. Make sure your memory card is not holding
you back.

Make sure that you use either rechargables or the Lithium. To be on the safe
side, Zhang, I would get a CRV3 battery to back up your power needs. Since
you did not mention whether or not you have a charger and rechargeable
batteries, that would be my next suggestion. The higher the number on the
battery, i.e. 2100 the longer the more power they can hold. Let us know how
you make out after using one of these options. Let us know more about what
features you have as well.

Best Regards,

Ron Baird

Most likely the user is using the wrong kind of battery.
